THURSDAY 21st SEPTEMBER

Guest Poet Will Hames cannot attend. Who Cares?
As usual when this happens, Sue Hamblen and myself step into the breach and the whole evening degenerates into the thoroughly ramshackle and shambolic affair that a good poetry night should be. See you there! If you want a theme for writing, it's PHOBIAS, OK?

GET IT OUT THERE!

Once you've done it, there's nothing quite like getting it out and showing it to people, is there?
Of course I'm referring to writing a poem...

A BIT ABOUT ME

I'm a recent addition to Wales having moved from Leicester to Pembroke Dock 3 years ago. Back in England I'd run a few poetry clubs and toured around quite a bit, publishing a couple of books and recording a couple of CDs along the way, which is a great life for a single bloke.
I'm now married with 4 young children so my priorities have changed somewhat. I met up with Sue at a poetry night someone organised in Pembroke Dock, and she invited me to perform at her new club. I shared the bill with my old mate Rob Gee and we had a fine old time, so I decided to "get involved".
I haven't had the time/space/energy to write anything new for a long old time, so the material I do at the moment is all vintage stuff, but no-one round here has heard it before, so what the heck?

WELCOME

Welcome indeed to WORD UP! CARDIGAN.
WORD UP! is a monthly Poetry Night held in the Cellar Bar of THE CASTLE CAFE, CARDIGAN, CEREDIGION, WEST WALES, hosted by veteran performance poets SUE HAMBLEN (pictured) and JIM HARWOOD (not pictured).
