XMAS by HANNAH WRIGHT

Scratchin the dirt again
Flirtin in the path again
Hatchin out a plan for a meal of food

Its not a conversation
Its an oration of opinion
U shud thinking of your condition
In the position yr in

Precision in every component of the plan
Decision in every moment if ya can

Good wishes an cassarole dishes
Have a whole new tint
Starin at ya from the sink
Bringin ya to the brink

Old crone
Rotten to the bone
Sittin on ya throne
Like a master of nuthin but a
Number crunchin mass of real crime

Keeping the speal in time
Tryna to the slime is
Another horse,saucy stuff.

Xmas is lovely
Like excema that covers me in an irritatin itch
A conspiritory bitch

Sellin me stuff
Swellin ma debts
Goin down the launderettes
Cos menai collect
Have taken my washing machine
Is this a dream?

Im afraid not
You prayed an you got
What you wanted
Consoled
Dated debts
And no home just a toaster
Finished in chrome
Oh no.

RANDOM IMAGES 4TH JAN

A few more interesting photos from George the Bat

JAN 4TH

The Jan 4th meeting was amazing for the number of "talking heads" (floorspots) and the quality of work offered. many thanks to my friend George the Bat who accompanied me on the journey and took the photos throughout the night - I always have my camera with me (and sometimes leave it behind - D'oh!) but usually I'm so involved in what's going down I forget to use it... there were actually more readers than photos, so we apologise for anyone who is missing - you'll have to come back again! I've left names off because I'm shockingly bad at remembering them correctly, and I don't want to offend anyone by getting their name wrong.

FORTHCOMING POSTS

Sue Hamblen is corrently working on a History of the Word Up! Poetry Night, and as founder member, she should know. Where did she get the idea? What's the point of it all? Where does it go from here? I think we should be told! And we will be!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR POSTING

http://wordupcardigan.blogspot.com/

is the address of the weblog (blog) for the WORD UP! Poetry Night.

Anything of relevance to the poetry night can be posted on the blog. In particular we’d like to get some of your poetry out there.

Please visit the blog, add it to your favourites.

If there’s anything you’d like to post there, please email it as an attachment to Jim Harwood – and include “word up” in the subject line of your email to: jimboharwood@gmail.com

If you can include a photo or graphic which is relevant to your post so much the better.

· Your text needs to be sent as a Word Document (.doc) or as a plain text file (.txt) this is preferable. You can use Microsoft Word or Notepad. DON’T BOTHER TO FORMAT IT, IT WILL ONLY MEAN MORE WORK FOR ME UNDOING ALL YOUR HARD WORK!

· If you’re sending an image, it needs to be sent as a Jpeg (.jpg). of medium resolution. No fancy framework please. If you don’t have a digital camera or scanner, I usually have my camera with me at the poetry nights.

· DON’T send stuff like Powerpoint Presentations or Publisher files, they’re incompatible with web applications and I probably won’t be able to open them anyway.

· DON’T send any images in your word documents, keep them separate!

· If you want to send a sound file, it needs to be MP3.

The more content the blog has, the more interest there will be in it, and the more active the blog is, the more people come to the poetry night, so get working! If you don’t have email, you can give me your submissions at the Poetry Nights, but I would prefer them typed.

If I’m not there you can leave them with Steve or Sue and they will pass them on to me.

Let’s make the Word Up! Poetry Night and the Wordupcardigan Weblog the stuff of Legend!

WORD UP 2007

HAPPY NEW YEAR! blwyddyn newidd dda!
The first WORD UP! 2007 will take place on Thursday 4th January, usual time and place and is a night for LOCAL POETS to air their work, which of course they can do every month, only this time they might get longer spots. In the absence of anyone better JIM HARWOOD will act as guest poet.
Beyond January things are none too certain at the moment - it looks like we will be taking a break through at least February and March due to the proprietors of the venue demanding things like holidays - how very dare they?
However, all things being equal, which they rarely are, we will be back in April, and the poetry nights will henceforth be monthly on the FIRST THURSDAY of each month.
